An Introduction to Michelle:
My name is Michelle Colette Moshier Sharp, and I was born on April 26, 1977 in Michigan.
I spent 18 years living in South Lyon with my mother and my two sisters, Amelia and Kelly Ann. (family pictures). Fall of 1995, I went away to college to
Salem-Teikyo University in West Virginia (Which has since been renamed to Salem-International
University) where I recieved my undergraduate degree with a major in molecular biology and a minor in mathematics Spring 2000.
Then, in fall of 2000 I moved to Maryland to begin my career working in the lab at the NIH, in the NCI, LCRC (Bulding 41). After
2 years of lab work, I switched to a position in a government contract which was mostly desk work as a Scientific Coordinator for the NIH AIDS Research and Reference Reagent Program in Germantown, Maryland. In 2007 I moved on to another desk position to support the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) in a government contract through SAIC
Interests
My favorite activities include: hiking, camping, biking, backpacking, rock climbing, tennis, running, exploring,
tree climbing, and especially sun-bathing!!
I swam competitively for 7 years through High School and College. I have worked in the swimming field by lifeguarding, teaching swimming lessons, and coaching my home
swim team the South Lyon Sea Lions. I also found time to dive competitively for 2 years. Now I have retired from swimming competitively,
but I swim recreationally still expecially during the summers.
Recently I spend my spare time hiking, backpacking, rockclimbing, going to Apple orchards, going to the ocean,
taking evening walks, checking out antique shops, playing pool, playing games, and watching movies.
Timmy
My Husband: Timothy A. Sharp. We met at college, studying the same subject and have many
of the same interests (except swimming). He also loves the out-of-doors, hiking, rock climbing, the ocean and sand
and especially the waves, watching good (and bad) movies.
He is a combat veteran for the Army Reserves (he was an ammunition
specialist). He spent 14 months active duty (8 of them overseas in Uzbekistan) during Operation Enduring Freedom/
Operation Noble Eagle (He spent some time in each operation). After 4 years of working in retail, he left retail for a
position with the same company I work: Fisher BioServices. He is an Operations Manager of the Cranberry contract, a government
contract of NCCAM, which supplies juice and tablets for research on the benefits of cranberry extracts.

I graduated from Salem-Teikyo University in May of 2000 with a Major in Molecular Biology and a minor in Mathematics, planning on pursuing a career in Biological Research. Following college I did a 2 year internship researching for the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.
I am now working as a Scientific Coordinator for Fisher Bioservices' NIH AIDS
Research and Reference Reagent Program, and am also working at the Germantown indoor swimming pool teaching lessons some week nights and
Saturdays for some extra spending money.
I am also taking evening classes part time at Hood College towards a Masters Degree in BioMedical Sciences.
It was weird going back to school after 4 years of being out, but after my first semester, I was glad that I did! Fall 2007 is my last semester of classes, and if I can get my non-thesis project completed, I can defend it in the spring, along with taking the comprehensive exam and hopefully graduate in May 2008.
